RIVIAM will soon interface with GP Connect

28 April 2020

RIVIAM has now progressed on to the next stage of integration with GP Connect. We expect to be able to interface directly over the next couple of months.

For our customers using our care co-ordination services, this will provide secure access to view key information and appointments held in patient's GP practice record, removing any need for referrers to duplicate this information.

NHS Digital has announced all GP practices have rolled out GP Connect

NHS Digital wants all practices to have access to GP Connect so they can share patient records and appointments across Primary Care Networks (PCNs), between GP practices and NHS 111. The Covid Clinical Assessment Service (CCAS) needs to book appointments directly into the GP surgery's clinical system.

Heath Tech News reports that Richard Alcock, Interim Director of Primary Care Technology at NHS Digital, has said:

“We have produced guidance with NHSX for GP practices to help them enable the GP Connect change quickly and without any hassle so that they can benefit from this functionality, providing them with the information they need to do their jobs effectively.

“This step is crucial to support clinicians so that they can give timely, accurate clinical advice to their patients at a time when they are already under unprecedented stress and having to work in completely new ways to deliver care.”
